In an effort to provide services to all that are efficient, effective, excellent, equitable, and empowering, the UK Government developed the Customer Service Excellence® which offers service providers a practical tool for driving customer-focused change within their organizations. This standard aims to make a difference to service users by encouraging provider organizations to focus on their individual needs and preferences.
In the UK, PSI provides the online test platform for both the Department for Education’s “Professional skills tests for prospective teachers” and the Home Office “Life in the UK” citizenship test. Following the acquisition early in 2018 of learndirect’s test center network and customer services center, PSI took on full management responsibility for the end-to-end delivery of two key government programs. PSI succeeded in delivering a smooth transition, guaranteeing the delivery of the same services to the same customers from the same geographical location.
Customer Service Excellence® values PSI’s commitment to ensure the customer is central to the continued delivery and development of test provision. Various developments took place with PSI using its customer insight to develop and inform service delivery. Five new test centers have been established based on customers’ suggestions, and candidates can now set tests on Sundays for the first time.
In order to be recognized as achieving Customer Service Excellence®, PSI had to be successfully assessed against the criteria of the standard. The five criteria of Customer Service Excellence® are customer insight, the culture of the organization, information and access, delivery, and timeliness and quality of service.
